Despite the questionable weather on Saturday, about 40 car owners from the Ferrari Club, Jaguar Club and the Association of Motoring Enthusiasts turned out to attend the American Dry Stripping (ADS) tech day.

Our three different speakers gave presentations in their respective areas of automotive restoration expertise. First up, “the best stripper in the northeast” Gary Jones, with the assistance of Master Blasters Thad “Mac” McLaurin and Peter Delaney, conducted a tour of the ADS facility discussing the subtleties of stripping paint and corrosion from exotic cars. He talked through differences in equipment and various media types used to ensure an optimal surface for coating and the best possible project outcome. Up next, Mark Barton, co-owner of The Panel Shop. Mark started his metal forming career with Aston-Martin, subsequently moving to Rolls-Royce where he met his partner, Steve Hall. Mark captured the attention of attendees with several anecdotes from his earlier years with Aston and Rolls. Mark’s years of training and experience was evident as he detailed how he fits newly fabricated panels and then perfectly aligns the pieces to the innuendos of the Ferrari on display as well as other exotic cars. Tom Yang, Ferrari restoration expert, rounded out our panel of presenters offering restoration tips and pointers peculiar to the Ferrari. The interest level by the attendees was obviously high as the presenters were peppered with questions after each of the presentations.

All in all it was a great day. Camaraderie abounded everywhere. Everyone attending had high praise for the speakers, the quality content and the meeting venue…….and a good time was had by all!!
